umm...Well, this is my problem with the term "African-American." To my knowledge, we as black people did not come up with that name either. And if we did, I didn't get the text message. See, these are names that were given to us so we could be easily identified, not names we gave ourselves. I propose that all peoples of African descent meet at the conference center in Atlanta and come up with a name that we can all agree on to be identified as. Then when someone who is as intellectually insignificant as Miss Lohan calls us otherwise, we have a more legitimate beef.
My sister and I came to the consensus some time ago that we prefer "American". What others choose to label themselves with is of no concern to either of us. "Colored", "Black", "African American" "Puffy", "Puff Daddy", "Piddy Pop Pop", whatever, his music still sucks.
There is no beef with Ms. Lohan legitimate or otherwise. Anybody calling for her head is as dingy as she will always be. My comment is directed at the fact that as a public figure trying desperately to hang on to her career, using a term that went out of popular fashion BEFORE SHE WAS BORN makes her i.e. and idiot.
