WASHINGTON (AP) - After the flub heard around the world, President Barack Obama has taken the oath of office. Again. Chief Justice John Roberts delivered the oath to Obama on Wednesday night at the White House — a rare do-over.
The surprise moment came in response to Tuesday's much-noticed stumble, when Roberts got the words of the oath a little off, which prompted Obama to do so, too. For more on this story click here.

Personal Truism: Bush was the worst president so far in my lifetime. Two wars, a trillion dollar deficit and lies upon lies stacking up over an eight year period; seeing his retreating back did not come soon enough for me.

Personal Truism: Barack Obama is an intelligent, thoughtful man who gives me hope for reform and a new age of personal responsibility in government.

Current Public Fervor: Barack Obama will fix everything and the world will be Nirvana once again
...ehh, I think that's reaching a bit.

I've noticed over the last few months the mass hysteria that has gripped this country. Since November, people have have reveled in a jubilation not seen since the since the drug fueled Sixties. Some have even compared the fervor to the second coming.

Now it has been awhile since I've read my bible, especially revelations, but nowhere do I recall in Thessalonians do I recall reading "...and he shall become president and fix the world." I do have high hopes for Barack Obama.




I believe he can bring much needed change to this country, but I'm keeping perspective. A lot of damage has been done to this country and its reputation over the years, so lets not expect too much too soon.

You put the man on too high of a pedestal and its a long way down.

Congratulations to our 44th President, Barack Obama. I wish him the best and have reasonable hope for him over the next four years. Good Luck, President Obama!

Catholic:"Not narrow-minded, partial, or bigoted; liberal; as, catholic tastes."

According to the Associated Press, Thursday "A South Carolina Roman Catholic priest has told his parishioners that they should refrain from receiving Holy Communion if they voted for Barack Obama because the Democratic president-elect supports abortion, and supporting him "constitutes material cooperation with intrinsic evil.""

This priest, this man of God, has decided to pose his own views on his congregation rather than the teachings of Jesus Christ as he was ordained to do. Reverend Jay Scott Norman sent out a letter to his parishioners informing that if they voted for Obama than they should refrain from taking communion until they have done "penance for their vote".

Usually I try not be overly critical (Yes, I do!), but this is ridiculous and borderline abusive. A church is where many find hope, faith and, supposedly unconditional love.

Now many other parish priests have spoken out against Obama for his pro-choice stance and lectured the parishioners against voting for him. I have no problem with that. I discussed with many of my friends and loved ones the issues I had with both McCain and Obama, put I have no intention of punishing those who disagreed with me, which is exactly what Rev. Norman is doing.

Rev. Norman argues that voting for Obama is "...material cooperation with intrinsic evil...". Well, then under his argument anyone who voted for McCain or Bush is guilty of breaking the fifth commandment(sixth depending on which version you read) as well.

Bush is the father of two concurrent wars were tens of thousands of lives have been lost. McCain stated on the record that we could spend the next 100 YEARS killing people(I mean, fighting for freedom) in Iraq if we have to. Do those Catholics who voted for McCain have to do penance for their vote as well?
